I've been working on a little side project Social Studies, a Tumblog of social web links for a while now, which you can check out here. Mostly, I like to keep tabs on what everyone sends around in email or Twitter, but it's been a useful exercise to make sure I read/scan the most important bits.
Sort've like Slate in Brief, but it's all your social news that's fit to read. Well, mostly fit to read. I'm planning to do a more careful curation with tags and so on moving forward.
